Episode 06: In The Garden

Genesis 3:8 “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking inthe garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” ESV

Prioritizing your time with the Lord is essential for growth in all areas of your life.

We must come out of “hiding” and step boldly into His presence again.

“In the Garden” - first sung and recorded 2019

This song has two references. One reference is to the book of Genesis when God walked through the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day. What must it have been like to walk where God walked? What would it have felt like in the Garden of Eden when everything was perfect before everything fell apart? Another song that came out in the middle of my random and spontaneous worship sessions. I could hear the Holy Spirit singing this over me.

Even though I am in the present moment of my life watching the curses of sin actively play out its role of destruction all around me, within my relationships and my family structure lay in waste alongside my heart, there is still a garden that exists. The garden where the Lord still walks and awaits my presence. In this garden, I can see only green as the grasses and plants bloom all around me. I can see young and thriving life bursting all around me. Somewhere along the way I also hear the bubbling laughter of a waterfall splashing near me, promising refreshment and a cleansing from the pain. It is near me. It is deep inside my soul. When I make the difficult choice to look past the painful and emotional response of my heart to my circumstance, in order to step deeper inside of my soul I find that Jesus is already there waiting to meet the unmasked and vulnerable part of me. If only to gather me in His loving embrace and keep me together in one piece. This is where I encountered hope to step forward one more breath, one more hour, one more step, one more day.
