Episode 02: In the Valley

Navigating the valley of death and darkness.

The time to really get to know who God is right now. All you can lean on is Who He is because there is no one else to lean on to.

He is your rod. He is your staff.

Hiking for a long ways at an incline you tired easily whether or not you have been conditioned, sooner or later the air is thinner and the muscles burn. This is useful to have a hiking stick to lean on. Sometimes in our walk, we have higher to climb and we are inevitably alone. We need something to lean on that is more permanent that a human relationship, and not so tumultuous as a circumstance. The Truth of Who God is, is a rod that you can lean on. He never changes and He is always reliable. He is all-sufficient and doesn’t need you, and yet His love for you is unmatchable and incomparable. Though He doesn’t need a relationship with you, He knows that you need a relationship with Him to survive because He knows that He is a source of life. He knows that if you do not draw near to Him someday, you will die. Rather than leave us to an unfortunate demise, He would spend your whole life chasing after you that you might come to know Him and live.

He is your rod to lean on when strength has run out. He is your staff of authority when you have lost all credibility in the eyes of others and especially to yourself.
